His eyes were dark

The sliver of color that perpetrated hid in a dark manner.

My heart hammered as I met those eyes.

My mind told me to hide

My heart told me to move closer.

A battle of hate and love flourished

And the fire that ensued fought for a win.

I don’t know how it happened

But as I moved closer

I learned that I was hiding.

Hiding behind my heart

And I let it win

And told my brain

That it was wrong.
