Living Under My Colorful Flag

I am not gay, I was just asked to write a poem supporting gay rights and I do. I believe everybody should love who they want, it is their choice. Their love. This poem can be found on ‘Slam for Orlando’ at http://www.powerpoetry.org/poetry-slams/slam-orlando

You Hurt Me Because I Am Different

Because I Love Who I Love

And I Won’t Control It.

And I Won’t Hide It.

You Hurt Me Because I Belong to a Colorful Flag

I Was Who I Was

So I Could Love Who I Wanted.

But I Was Hurt

And I Lost My Chance to Love.

I Could Get Married

But You Wouldn’t Let Me

Because You Don’t Approve.

So Please, Just Stop

And Remember

I Was Just Wanting to Love Who I Wanted to Love

and Live Under My Colorful Flag.
